Maestro Dvorsky is one of the most iconic and most influential personalities of Slovak Opera. High quality of his performance, pushing of his own limits, many international awards, his values, decisions but also his opinion about current opera world. Our film portrays all that. We will take you on an amazing journey of this extraordinary man and tenor, applauded by so many generations of extatic audiences around the world.
WORKS ON THE FILM
SECOND STEP
I often travel around the world and enjoy long haul flights mainly because of the documentary films I watch on board of the aircraft. I thought: „About who (from Slovakia) would I like to watch a movie?“List of personalities who made Slovakia visible in the world is not that long. But amongst the few is, at least to me and to my heart Peter Dvorsky. Since we are good friends, I have asked him if it would alright to make documentary movie about him. Peter agreed and I felt extreme gratitude but also great responsibility and challenge.
FILM REALISATION
THIRD STEP
I have asked Marián Turner to write the script. We are both not only great fans of Peter Dvorsky, but of the opera in general. We both knew that our film must aim for a mainstream viewer. As well as for those who don´t really know opera. With our team, we did our best to enable our viewers to get to know opera. And to like it.
MAKING A MOVIE
FOURTH STEP
We have recorded this documentary in a though time, during Covid. Our theatrical shots were filmed in Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava and in Vienna Satte Opera. It took us 4 months of intense communication with Wiener Staatsoper to get the permission to film there. Only in these cases, one can truly understand how do the big opera houses work. Other film days took place in Bratislava and Piešťany.
POST- PRODUCTION
FIFTH STEP
After final cut, in august 2021, we started the post production process. I have come to shear with great enthusiasm, loads of archives, music and a clear vision. I was lucky to have such a great crew, and editor Tono Fabian, young man, who has „heard“ about Meastro Dvorsky…but when he saw, he really started to create. Thank you „Tonko“ for your ideas. It is also thanks to your contribution that young people get to know who Peter Dvorsky is.
Film was finalised in Homemedia company. It was a demanding work, since we have used many visual archives and photos in the film and they were all shot using different technologies. Mayo Hurajt and his team did really an excellent job.
